Welcome To Triptych Theatre Company

Hello, and welcome to Triptych Theatre Company's new blog, and our pilot project Down and Out.

Down and Out is a show that started 2 years ago, during it's writing process. Since then its had re-draft after redraft till it came to a draft that we felt was ready for a read-through. A cast was therefore assembled and a public reading took place in November, to generally positive views, with some really helpful critiques which lead to the addition of a new character and various new scenes.
But where now? In late March/ early April of this year, Triptych Theatre Company will be performing Down and Out, and live streaming/recording it for the viewing pleasure of numerous schools across both Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Following an official launch party in February (To which all are welcome, see our Facebook) rehearsals will commence and we'll be working intensely for a month to create a well crafted show ready for general distribution.

The play, written by Nic Miller, will be directed by Olli Wilson-Smith with assistance from Louise Esam. Although casting is not yet set in stone, we really hope Imogen Lea and Martin Pikett who starred in the original read through will remain with the company in some guise. All publicity, and most importantly this blog, will be managed by Lucy Wakefield.
So what is Down and Out all about? Down and Out is a show that aims to raise awareness and discussion about self harm and depression in the current generation of 16-25 year olds, in the hope that we can work towards a more open approach to discussing mental health for a better future. The play follows the story of Freya, who self harms, and her boyfriend Harvey, who desperately tries to help. Throw in an insensitive friend and a naive sister and you've got what Down and Out is all about.
We'll be sending out information to schools about the performance soon, but if you'd like to speak to the drama teacher at your school, tell them to find us on Instagram @TriptychTheatreCo, Twitter @TriptychTC or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/TriptychTheatreCo or drop us an email at Triptychtheatreco@gmail.com and we'd be happy to speak to them directly. And if you've got a friend who might be interested in joining us, or you are yourself, like us on Facebook and we'll be releasing details of an opportunity very soon!
We hope to see you around soon!

And don't forget to join us at College Street Centre (NG1 5AQ) 6-8p.m. for our official launch evening with drinks nibbles and a chance to chat!
